Jodie Vernon Integrative adult child teen therapist

Hi, I'm Jodie, and I'm an integrative child, teenage and adult BACP-registered therapist.

I received my BA in education in 2000 and went on to work in primary education for 20 years. During that time, I noticed that children's and adults' mental health needs were on the rise, and went on to achieve a diploma in counselling and psychotherapy in 2017.

My experience of working with children aged 5-11 began in schools, using play and art therapy to help them to explore their feelings in a safe and familiar environment, enabling them to reach their full potential.

I have worked with children who have had family members with mental illness, children who have experienced trauma, who have been fostered, and children with ASD. Regulating emotions is something that children often need help with if they have had trauma or attachment issues, and I work with them to show and teach, so that they can learn to cope with every day life.

I also have experience working with teenagers who are feeling the stresses and strains of the modern world. We are seeing more and more teenagers seeking therapy as they struggle with exam pressures, social lives and social media. I use a variety of techniques to help them to regulate their emotions, explore their feelings and find ways to cope in the world.

My work with adults is broad, but I have specialist experience working with domestic abuse. Whether working with adults or children, my main approach is person-centred, keeping your needs at the forefront and allowing you to be autonomous in sessions. I believe that the client knows themselves best, and by working together on your journey, you can be empowered to make the changes that you desire.

My range of experience means that I can combine different techniques and interventions to create the most effective therapy for your needs, including motivational interviewing, solution based therapy and transactional analysis. My aim is to empower my clients to help them to become clearer in what they desire and enable the to cope with the challenges that life brings, and make positive changes in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental environment. This enables you to explore issue and emotions within a safe, therapeutic relationship, and to discuss whatever is important to you at the time. Sessions are 50 minutes long and the cost is £72.
